Acceptance

A cherished moment of attending birth is observing the birthing woman step into the moment of acceptance that birth is actually happening, the event is here, and the need for utter surrender to the power of the process is necessary. As I witness the strength and humility of the woman come into focus as she accepts the badge of motherhood, is when the Birthing Woman has accepted the fullness of her role in her life story. And the fullness of the role encompasses every emotion experienced in the past and also the mystery of all the new emotions that will be experienced only with the child she is birthing in their unknown future together. Motherhood is everything. It is joy, pain, gratitude, and suffering. The experience of childbirth is the perfect preparation into the journey of motherhood. The beautiful unknown awaits each mother, and the acceptance of the unknown with power and innate wisdom is ultimately what brings forth the birth itself.
